2016-04-09 Waking up to Whiteness: Exploring How to Skillfully and Compassionately Address Race, Part 1 43:00
Terri Karis
Within a sacred space of stillness, spaciousness, and community we will explore how the habitual practices of whiteness keep us from embodying the freedom that is our birthright and from taking skillful action to address racism. In a spirit of “don’t know" mind we will investigate attachments to being a “good” white person, and how to disrupt white racial fragility and white silence.

2016-04-02 Bringing the Gifts of Uncertain Times into Your Daily Practice 1:46:49
Kaia Svien
An emerging theme at Common Ground addresses ways our practice expands our resiliency on both personal and community levels as we face into the many crises of our times. Tonight we’ll shine a light on some of the gifts that are obscured by more secure times, gifts that crises bring forward. We’ll draw on some of Joanna Macy’s teachings on this topic and explore together how to apply these insights to issues that matter to us. Kaia Svien is a long time student of Joanna Macy. She leads quarterly programs at Common Ground on topics related to climate disruption.
